trinkets! keepsakes! happiness!

i would like to be a minimalist but in reality every little shell is invaluable and every receipt is a memory worth keeping. when i moved back to new york my carry on suitcase consisted of marked up books, rocks of various sizes, and handmade ceramics from my travels over the last four years. out of the masses, these are my favorite trinkets and keepsakes.

…fair warning that the order of this page becomes a little chaotic if you’re not going full screen computer mode. apologies.

this is my current journal. my friend louisa got me this journal from a dutch company called About: Blanks that upcycles old book spines into blank journals. vroolijke vriendjes translates to cheerful friends and that is just about my favorite thing in the world.

some of my favorite sandy treasures:

colorful ceramics from colorful lisbon

pressed flowers, courtesy of my lovely little flower press:

one of my dear friends iza has spent a lot of time in indonesia, and each time i see her she brings me one of these little notebooks. made from bamboo paper and repurposed sarongs, they are delicate and imperfect and to hold one is to feel the love and care that went into its creation. i am a sucker for paper trinkets, and turning my receipts, cards, candy wrappers, and random pieces of paper into a personalized art project makes my inability to let them go feel a bit more valid. these books come with me wherever i go, along with the mindset that one man’s junk is my treasure.

this is the stack. most of it anyways. my journals are home to the majority of my writing and it is from these journals that i have pulled the words that accompany each of the places on this website.
